Love is the burning point of life, and since all life is sorrowful, so is love. The stronger the love, the more the pain. Love itself is pain, you might say -the pain of being truly alive. ~Joseph Campbell
This Decan 3 Capricorn lunation is definitely about the pain of truly being alive, but there is a softness to that pain. There is an unaffected preciousness that goes with the authenticity of heartfelt pain and deep loss.
There is loss in this vibe, but you can expect nothing else from a FM/eclipse that is conjunct the South Node or Ketu. Ketu speaks of untold incarnations in flesh, it reminds us of ancestral dreams and mystical whispering, it takes us back to ancient soul contracts we remember nothing of.
But suddenly we are reminded, like vivid LSD flashbacks. Were those phantoms real? Were they just a part of our imagination? Well, you may never know…
My mind drifts back to January 5th or 6th when we began the 2019 eclipse season with the eclipse in Capricorn. We can see the exposition unfold before our eyes. There is depth of feelings, a raw animistic vibe, isolation and misery if we feel like we do not belong anywhere.
This Cancer/Capricorn polarity is very much about belonging and with the North Node in Cancer and the South Node in Capricorn, we need to define our family, even if they are not related in blood. We need to connect to someone or to something or an idea.
The opposition that is playing out in these two cardinal signs of earth(Cap) and water(Cancer), are making us prone to feeling and embodiment. Capricorn is very much about embodiment, but with Pluto/Saturn/Ketu sitting in there, there is a sense of the ephemeral, the non tangible that can be felt. Or not! It’s subtle, I give you that. Or not?
Mars and Mercury had made the watery sign of Cardinal Cancer their home these last few days. Mercury moved into Leo and went RX on the 8th. Mars in Leo has activated the heart centered energy as this is the sign that rules the heart and Mars is action. Are we going to do things with our heart? Mercury RX in Leo is about expressing and integrating what we need to say from a deep place within. From our heart.
For every day that there is sunshine, there will be days of rain, it’s how we dance within them both that shows our love and pain. ~~Joey Tolbert
Mars is also conjunct Juno, symbolizing our partner and this can be very sexual and passionate. Chiron RX in Aries trines the bodies in fire. Mars, Mercury, Juno in Leo and Jupiter RX in Sag. This healing trine from Chiron is also aiding to the heartcentric movement of Mars and we are looking at expressing our creative streak and now we know it is okay to be honest and vulnerable, for from that zone comes true power. Once you feel established in that core power, you are ready for all the surprises and unexpected things thrown at you, you flow with the unpredictable and you make the best of chaotic, random conversations and turn them to gold. Chaos is magick says Mercury RX in Leo and this chaos will activate our authentic self expression. Leo illuminates and shines bright, just like the Sun, never forget that. Mercury RX or not.
Pluto sitting so close to the moon and kissing her is very much about this poignant keening we can hear from the fairies and sprites invisible. The mystique of the eclipse in conjunct to Pluto/Hades is about us getting “real” about what is stirring in the depths of our beings. Things surface with this Plutonic vibe and we find ourselves exploring the past, our childhood, questioning generational curses and having tea with our demons at 3am. Our emotional needs need to be looked at and possibly transmuted. Pluto provides the power of alchemy.
Memories, memories, memories…
To give and receive love, you have to be in touch with pain, you have to be capable of provoking it and feeling it. ~Jeanne Moreau
Suddenly you’re back in his arms and you remember everything. Everything you neatly filed away in your little brain. Things you never wanted to access. Memories you did not realize still existed. But they do and they make a mockery of your sanity tonight. You remember that first meeting. His lips on yours and an eternity spend looking into his eyes. But then poof! Everything dissipates and you’re back to reality. All alone.
But this Saturn/Pluto/Ketu infused eclipse/FM may be the perfect time to surrender to ALONE-NESS. Make no mistake. Aloneness is not loneliness. If anything, it is the very opposite of it. Alone-ness is a surrender to spirit. It is an acknowledgement that you are tuned into the one ABSOLUTE consciousness and you’re aware.
You’re aware that it was necessary to see through the facade. It was necessary to let the illusion die. But this time, you do not let those memories paralyze you. You stand in your raw vibrancy when those memories flood you and you do not get disarmed or disturbed. Nothing and no one can make a mess out of you. For tonight you are connected…connected to the shadow as much as the light. You are a spark of divinity!
You will not allow anything or anyone to eclipse your inner light and you are ready to stare those shadow beings of your mind into non existence by acknowledging their existence. Make peace, not war screams the Universe, but is anybody listening?
A Plutonic FM/eclipse will be stirring the pot of our sexuality. Our desires, our fantasies, our inhibitions are all cooking together with a pinch of the taboo and a dash of the mysterious.
Our psychic framework is heightened tonight as we’re about to discover what has been eclipsed in our lives. Since Pluto is bathing this lunation in his energy, I must sat that this will be about all things Scorpionic. Rahu is also associated with Scorpio in Vedic astrology. Double dose of all things 8th house. Sex, lies, money and what we expect/get from others. Pluto rules our reproduction and also elimination. What will you give birth to? And what will you eliminate? Wait for the profound revelations…
Maybe you opened your heart to the wrong man and you showed him YOU, inside out and now that he has seen the good, the bad and the ugly, you feel exposed and you feel vulnerable. And you want to push him away. How did I allow myself to expose the dark crevices of my mind and heart to him, you think and that makes you afraid.
Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past me I will turn to see fear’s path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” -Muad’Dib
With the Moon/Saturn/Pluto/Ketu in the mix opposite the Sun/Venus/Rahu, in the Cancer/Cappy polarity there is definitely a streak of fear. Fear can become anger and anger, fear. Tons of frustrations!
Eris, relatively new to astro consciousness is in Aries, 24 degrees to be exact and is squaring the planetary bodies in both the cardinal signs of Cancer/Cap. I told you how squares happen in the signs of the same mode and today we see a cardinal square being played out in the sky between Eris and the Sun/Moon/Pluto.
AOC statement to Donald Trump exemplifies this ERIES energy…’You cannot accept that we don’t fear you…’ Eris fears no one! Accept it!
ERIS’s orbit, a long, elliptical one , circles round the Sun every 560 years and some astrologers say that women born with Eris in Aries have an overdose of Mars in them. She will enter Venus-ruled Taurus in 2044, so we have this dominant Martian influence playing out and Mars himself is adding fire by being in fellow fire sign Leo. Trine baby!
Another thing that adds to the diabolic vibe is the fact that Eris is of the nature of Pluto and this square aspect, an aspect of tension will be bringing to fore all things dark, mysterious, sinister and infernal to the surface. They say Mutable squares are easiest to deal with, but not these cardinal ones.
Eris is the daughter of Cronos or Saturn; was blames for starting the Trojan War. Read this description of Eris (Discordia to the Romans), as given in Hesiod’s Theogony: “But abhorred Eris (‘Strife’) bare painful Ponos (‘Toil/Labor’), Lethe (‘Forgetfulness’) and Limos (‘Famine’) and tearful Algea (Pains/Sorrows), Hysminai (‘Fightings/Combats’) also, Malchai (‘Battles’), Phonoi (‘Murders/Slaughterings’), Androctasiai (‘Manslaughters’), Neikea (‘Quarrels’), Pseudea (‘Lies/Falsehoods’), Amphillogiai (‘Disputes’), Dysnomia (‘Lawlessness’) and Ate (‘Ruin/Folly’), all of one nature, and Horkos (‘Oath’) who most troubles men upon earth when anyone willfully swears a false oath.”
We can see how this raw, feminine power came to be demonized and since she is in Aries, it is worthwhile to mention that some astrologers are giving Eris the rulership of Libra. I mean if she rules Libra how discordant can she really be? Libra is also the polarity of Aries and if we channel into this ancient message we see that when Eris is balanced, she is about being forthright and competitive. But if she is unbalances, then she is strife and problems.
But nothing that can be said can begin to take away the anguish and the pain of these moments. Grief is the price we pay for love. ~~Elizabeth II
Handle this Eris square Sun/Moon/Pluto with understanding, adaptation and compromise. Avoid ego battles for they help no one. Walk away if you need to. Eris will intensify the square to Pluto this whole time till 2021 when it is exact, but till then this very Plutonic, discordant vibe will play out in the collective and personal energy fields which we can balance with the right attitude of humility and adaptability. Never forget Eris is a soul warrior and she shows up when fierce is needed, for me, she is symbolic of the female quest for survival and equality.
In the apocryphal Arabian Centiloquius (Kitab al-Tamara) by Claudius Ptolemy, it is said : “He who knows can avoid numerous events of the stars, because having known his nature he will be able to prepare himself before they arrive”. Can we then prepare for the turbulence ahead? Can we consciously observe peace into existence?
This vast amounts of the energy of Capricornus is something we humans are not used to for a while…the South Node, Pluto and Saturn haven’t been together in Capricorn for 2207 years. Yes you read that correctly. It was 2207 years ago, this energy was available for us to play with and interact. Maybe you and me had incarnated back then and we’re here to conclude and finish what we started.
Pluto is craving, it is a deep hankering for something we can never have enough and although Saturn is trimming down these obsessions and Ketu is subtracting them, we still are victims of craving…listen to Krishnamurthi <3
The craving for more is the beginning of conflict and misery. We try to escape from this misery through every form of self-deception, through suppression, substitution and sublimation; but craving continues, perhaps at a different level. Craving at any level is still conflict and pain. (COL, 1, 73.)
In that sense Pluto always creates pain and melancholia. Something is amiss and we feel it, unless we have tuned into the authentic Plutonic vibe of total transformation and as the eclipse exacts, it is a direct plunge of our souls into the occult recesses of the unconscious. The dark side of the Moon exacerbates this longing…
This eclipse is unique, this night of longing is unique and so are you…the problem is not the problem, but your attitude to that problem. Do you hear me?
Saturn is opposite Venus, the North Node and the Sun. Saturn is also the final DISPOSITOR of this lunation and is a key player in this Cappy FM, eclipse. This is after all his domain.
Seneca says that Epigenes, who studied astronomy among the Chaldeans: “…estimates that the planet Saturn exerts the greatest influence upon all the movements of celestial bodies.” – Naturales Quaestiones VII. 4. 2.
Saturn, in his rulership is telling us, listen, are you ready to be loyal to what you really want? It will only come to you with loyalty and Saturn opposite Venus tells me that somewhere we feel constricted. Like something wonderful could have happened, but it didn’t.
This Saturn/Venus opposition reminds me of how women must dress up in black burqas in some Islamic countries. These black robes are Saturnine and they cannot show their faces, cannot drive, are subject to “honor killings”, rapes and what not…
These are examples of how Saturn completely inhibits the Venusian expression, but there is the Moon/Venus opposition and this has me fascinated. That loneliness and those memories I spoke about, yes, this aspect is so very reminiscent of those feelings. You want him, but you know he is no good for you. If single, you are ready to hook up with just about anybody…why? Because the Moon touched by this opposition from Venus can have you feeling 50 shades of blue.
You know he is your kryptonite, but you just don’t care. You want to be in someone’s arms and this strong compulsion to connect can be used in divine meditation. Think before you allow someone to take your power away. If you do not find emotional expression to these feelings, you will try to substitute lovemaking with food or money. Not advisable. Sun in Cancer is not a good time to trouble your stomach as Cancer rules your stomach.
Venus, the symbol of the feminine is quincunx Jupiter RX in Sag and this infernal energy can see the scales of giving and receiving tipped to one side. Is this one sided love? Are you giving too much? Are you spending too much? On luxuries you do not need and honestly cannot afford? Quincunxes are imbalanced energies and this needs to be corrected in the way you give and receive love.
Keep your credit card away…seriously!
Venus is also opposite Pluto and here we cannot not discuss the myth of Persephone and Hades. Let us discuss what Venus truly means in a natal chart…she is the beauty we see. She is what we crave for. She is our sensuality and magnetic appeal. Venus is how we add a personal touch to the observable world and how we love, who we love and adore. She teaches us how we can connect romantically and how we savor the world through our five senses. She is how we soothe and calm.
Venus points to how we dress, our style, our makeup, our fashion preferences, the books and films we read and watch, the authors we connect with and what music we like. Venus is our aesthetics and her five petaled pentagram symbolizes our engagement to the world through he five senses. Our five senses have seduced us to incarnate and experience this 3D world which is why Venus is considered a problematic planet in Vedic astrology. Venus keeps us enmeshed in 3D. Now we have her opposite Pluto who is Hades, the Lord of the underworld who rapes her and violates her. Venus is Eros and Pluto is Thanatos. Eros is our love drive and Thanatos is the death drive and they are intricately intertwined.
Grief can be the garden of compassion. If you keep your heart open through everything, your pain can become your greatest ally in your life’s search for love and wisdom. ~~Rumi
The myth of Persephone exemplifies the cycles of nature, for when she is underground, plants do not bloom and there is winter(scarcity), and when she returns to earth, spring arrives(abundance). Persephone is our soul, naive and vulnerable, and she must drown in the dark underworld which is a symbol of the Unconscious mind to become whole with light and darkness. She imparts us with contemplative darkness and uncomfortable wisdom and she gives us the powers of self mastery. She helps us tame the beast within.
Nothing works better than doing shadow work.
“The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.” ~Carl Jung, Aion (1951)
Do not reject or resent anything now…Purge if you need to, but with love and acceptance and a deep motivation for change. Nothing else will work. Maybe trauma has rewired your brain, but this is not the time to focus on trauma. This is the time to accept everything that happened. Yes, EVERYTHING!
The Sabian symbol for the 25th degree of Capricorn is “An oriental rug dealer.”
In the Astrology of Personality, where Rudhyar uses the original Dr. Jones’ class notes on the symbols, he states this degree is about “first realization of cultural values through sensuous enjoyment,” “refinement of sensations,” and “psychological enrichment.”
The rug is also a foundation, like Cancer herself. Because of the word ORIENT we can say that there is an emphasis on tradition. Venus opposite Saturn vibe yes?
Now let us see which TAROT CARD is associated with the Decan 3 of Capricorn. It is the 4 of Pentacles. The Miser card. Yes work hard, but do not make your life about hoarding. Share what you have and watch it multiply a million times.
Think about how you want to spend this menstrual FM/eclipse. Are you going to let hatred fill your heart because you feel all these unprocessed emotions and they bring you pain? Or will you surrender to that pain and see it turn to love…
The blood of love welled up in my heart with a slow pain. ~~Sylvia Plath
